“When it comes to CBD, it’s about the quality of the product. There have been tests on many products and many of them don’t live up to what they say they are. There is no real FDA regulation. So it really comes down to business ethics and business morals and there is a lot of greed out there. So when people get greedy, the product quality really goes down,” Tessler said.

Today, GPS technology is used in consumer products such as cars and phones, as well as applications like earthquake research and geocaching.

“If you go into a Frito-Lay factory and there’s a Dorito line running there, there are protocols and practices that follow the GMP requirements to a tee,” Hoosein says. “In a company like Frito-Lay, if you’re deviating from these practices [and it’s] going to cause risks for the safety of the food, it’s a really big deal. … I haven’t really seen that in [the cannabis] industry.”

In addition to potency testing, one of the core issues facing the industry and by extension, the end consumer, is the prevalence of pesticides in cannabis products.
