Adobe this week introduced the app personalization tools for Target at its Adobe Summit EMEA, which started on May 15 and wraps up today in London. The VEC has a three-step guided workflow to help marketers and developers personalize mobile apps.

For the first time, the department will be able to create a permit-granting system that divides up the industry between cultivators, manufacturers and retailers. If you've ever been to one of those parties where there's games and then at the end of it, they're trying to show you a bunch of merchandise and sell you stuff -- maybe it's Tupperware, sadly adult toys has been a popular one, maybe it's nutritional items. It's a business model that works based on commission salespeople, nonsalaried salespeople, getting paid based on how much they sell and recruiting new people into the organization, to create a pyramid -- we'll delve deeper into the word pyramid later -- where the person at the top gets a cut from everyone from the bottom. You only make money if you're selling, but the company makes money in a variety of different ways. Sometimes you pay joining fees, sometimes you have to buy product, sometimes you have to buy kits for these parties. And it's really a very appealing idea to people because it's owning your own business; but there are a lot of caveats to that.

With regard to where these devices are allowed to fly, CBP says it largely uses these drones within the “immediate border area” within 25 miles of the border. Legally, the agency is restricted by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly drones between 25 and 60 miles of the US-Mexico border, excluding urban areas. But many civil liberties advocates worry about scope creep (that these drones could be used to surveil beyond these areas), and that even within the legal ranges, many US citizens are vulnerable to being monitored.

San Francisco-based Highland Technology designs and manufactures custom electronics for aerospace, defense, scientific, and industrial applications. Their PCBs include upwards of 1,200 extremely small components and must perform both reliably and at a high level. Because of the size of these parts, it is impossible to precisely measure thermal stress with thermocouples. Highland works around this limitation by utilizing a thermal imager. However, their initial imager had a large geranium lens and an unwieldy hand-held body.

Students were deemed ready based on their success on a computer-based test of early literacy skills, an assessment many early-childhood educators have criticized. The test was introduced in August 2017, so the students who took it this past August were the second group to be judged based on performance on the Star Early Literacy test.
